January and February are the worst months to live in New York.
It is gray. It is depressing. And it is cold.

I am in New York. It is the beginning of January.
And I am all alone.

I don't know what I want to do with my life.

What Jen said.

You take on too much worry for one so young and small. But you are aware of that.

Hang in, study your script and songs, read your lovely new books, and I'll see you soon! There is much to look forward to.

I'm not sure what I want to be when I grow up either, but it's been fun trying to figure it out. Maybe someday I'll know.

Jan and Feb can be really cool months to develop a serious drinking problem. Too bad you won't have time for that what with your show and all. Missing out, really.

Sorry, honey, but I checked "fail."

Quit trying to plan your entire life! You're a teenager. Enjoy the journey!

Love,
Mum

omg I don't know what I want to do with my life either. Or I do, but I get so damn scared that I've got it all wrong and I will wake up at 40 to find that I've completely failed myself. Hmm. This probably isn't making you feel better. The good news is, though, that you are NOT alone. You are loved and appreciated and admired. Jen is right. Your mama is right. John should never have told you it's cool to develop a drinking problem. It's not. What a dork. John, not you. It IS cool to fall in love with yoga or pour all your energy into your songs or your writing. And if the world just starts to feel too damn bleak, call a friend and have them take you out for coffee. I love coffee. I also love tea, hot coco and long walks along the Hudson River. I also have a dog who earlier ate a pile of litter encrusted cat turds and who is now belching fart-burps in my face. I'm sure she'd love it if you came over. I would love it because then she'd focus her dragon breath on you instead of on me.

Yes, what sort of mom checks the "fail" box on their own baby's blog?

Heehee. At least I got your attention. I just don't like when you get so down about this.

You're young and look younger. Enjoy your youth!

Love,
Your overly critical mum
